Reed Fights for Working Families, Retirees

Press Release

Date: Nov. 2, 2016
Location: Corning, NY

Reed fights to ensure our working families, retirees are treated fairly. "We cannot allow our working families and retirees to be cheated," stated Tom Reed.

"The New York State Teamsters leadership is proposing aggressive cuts to retiree plans up to 31 percent," said Amy Hasenberg, Tom Reed for Congress Spokeswoman. "While the Teamster's leadership has not endorsed Tom, Tom cares about their workers. The Treasury needs to reject these plans in order to protect our families. For Tom, the needs of New Yorkers always come before politics."

"I am standing up for our working families by demanding Secretary Lew reject the plan to cheat our retirees. It is not right. We are also demanding an investigation," said Reed. "Political affiliation doesn't matter. I am fighting to make sure our retirees are treated fairly," continued Reed."

DC John Plumb hides behind his party and fails to answer questions. While he has received the endorsement of the Teamsters, he hasn't voiced anything about this unjust attack on local retirees. "DC John Plumb will say anything to get elected, however he lacks the courage of his convictions. DC John has failed to discuss this attack on working families and retirees. This is about people because Tom cares about New York's families. Tom works for people regardless of whether or not they support him," stated Hasenberg.
